TBH: Task Bar Hero Steam Trade Ship not working

Problem: When you click the Steam Trade Ship in TBH: Task Bar Hero, instead of opening it throws an error along the lines of "due to server issues the trade ship is temporarily closed". This is not something you broke and it is not a setting you can flip. After launch, bots and players flooded the Steam market and dumped items for a few cents each. The developer was unable to stop the botting, so they closed the Trade Ship globally for everyone. As of mid-2026 there is no announced reopen date. Because this is a server-side closure rather than a client option, there is no fix you can apply on your end. You simply wait for a patch that brings the Trade Ship back. Note this is a completely separate thing from the normal 15-day listing hold that Steam applies to new accounts, which a Steam Mobile Authenticator (Steam Guard) can shorten. The Trade Ship being closed is not a Steam Guard problem and Steam Guard will not reopen it. One related side effect: while the Trade Ship is down, some players also stop receiving their chests.

Steps

  1. Confirm the error message. If clicking the Steam Trade Ship returns something like "due to server issues the trade ship is temporarily closed", this is the global server-side closure, not your account.
  2. Understand the cause. After launch, bots and players flooded the Steam market with cheap dumped items, the developer could not stop the botting, so the Trade Ship was closed for everyone.
  3. Accept that there is no client-side fix. This is a server-side closure, so nothing in your settings, files, or Steam account will reopen it. You wait for a patch.
  4. Do not confuse it with the 15-day hold. The normal 15-day listing hold on new accounts is a separate Steam restriction, and a Steam Mobile Authenticator (Steam Guard) speeds that up. Steam Guard does not affect the Trade Ship closure.
  5. If your chests stopped arriving while the Trade Ship is down, open the in-game mailbox and click refresh to recover them.
  6. Check for game updates and patch notes periodically. The market state changes with patches, and this reflects the situation as of mid-2026.
